The Story of the Farm in Photos
Here you can see the growth of our farm documented in photos with brief descriptions. These photos are to share with you so you can see what we have been up to and for us to look back on to remind us of all the hard work we put into this beautiful place.
Year One - 2024

Building the first farm beds 2/19/24
My dedicated little helper <3

Building the first beds
Had to get the big guns out! 2/20/24

Deer Fencing Is Up
3/16/24

Help from Family
Cutting the cardobard to put in the aisles as a weedblock. 3/16/24

Paper and Cardboard Weedblocks
We chose to not use any kind of Plastic weedblock. 3/22/24

Weighing down the compost top layer.
The best farmhand possible! 3/22/24

Paper Weedblock
First bed is already in, building out Second Bed here. 4/12/24

Thin layer of compost is spread on top to help weigh down the paper.
4th and final bed is in. 4/13/24

The first transplants
Zinnias, Gomphrena, & Lemon Basil Transpants 4/13/24

Mulch will cover all the cardboard rows like the first row to the left.
Mulch made from shredded trees we lost and/or took down on the property. 4/14/24

Soil Blocks with Seedlings
2/15/24

Zinnia Seedlings in Soil Blocks
2/15/24

Lemon Basil Seedling in Soil Blocks
Lemon Basil is definitely my favorite scent of all cut flowers 2/15/24

Ammi Dara Soil Blocks
Planted on Feb 3 and left outside in the cold for 10 days for the vernalization period required for these seeds. 2/15/24

Dukat Dill Seedlings in Soil Blocks
Dill variety Experiment, The Bouquet Variety is still my favorite. 2/15/24

Fancy Daffodil
Lots of insect pressure ruined many of my daffodils. 4/1/24

Nasturtiums 4/2/24
One of my favorite plants to grow. Edible and easy to grow. Require afternoon shade once the hottest part of the year arrives.

Gladiola Bulbs
4/10/24

Lily Blooms Test Garden 4/10/24
Bulbs were planted on 1/1/24 and the earliest blooms started around 3/27/24. The darkest blooms are the wrong color for the season.

Persian Cress Transplants
More pature plants to the left were potted up before transplanting. All these seedlings got completely decimated by caterpillars. Lesson learned. Will try again as a Fall planted cool weather crop. 4/12/24

Celosia Soil Block Seedlings
Putting them in the beds. 4/13/24

Zinnia Bed
Zinnias grow fast but very susceptible to disease. I only got one bouquet off this bed before it was entirely engulfed in powdery mildew. 4/13/24

Bouquet Dill 4/13/24
This was a volunteer from last years seed drops. Dill is a host plant to Eastern Black Swallowtail butterflies and was the "gateway" plant for me to ultimately decide to do this Farm thing as a full time career.

The Circle of Life
Spiders are natural insect control and do not discriminate against the pollinators and the pests. 10/17/24

Giant Marigolds
First Round of Harvests 10/17/24
